Scores of prospective families spilled into the Ramaz auditorium after Shabbat on November 11, 2023, for the annual Open House. Among the crowd was a sea of current students clad in blue, teachers enthusiastically welcoming parents and children in for classes, and the two new Ramaz admissions coordinators, Ms. Parker and Ms. Milowitz. And for their first event of the year, they blew everyone away. “We got amazing feedback on the Open House! We were so proud of how the students represented our school––every prospective family commented on what an impressive and fun place Ramaz seems to be,” Ms. Parker exclaimed after the event.
Various students participated in the Open House––it was all hands on deck, including the chamber choir, student ambassadors, student panelists, and students participating in the skit. Ms. Parker was inspired by the dedication and commitment that everyone put into making the evening a success. “I was blown away by the eagerness of our students to participate and the initiative taken by them. Students were knocking on our office door constantly offering to help and volunteer.” Each student group spent weeks assembling and perfecting their part in the program, exemplifying their adoration for their experience at Ramaz. Student ambassador Gabrielle Silverberg states:
The program began with speeches from Rabbi Frank, Mr. Cannon, Ms. Krupka, and Lindsey Feit ’25, each with an underlying message of love for Israel and love for Ramaz. Havdalah was done by the chamber choir, followed by a video promoting Ramaz’s main goals and values as an institution. The night dwindled to an end with a skit led by Ari Goralnick ’24 which showcased extracurricular activities, a Q&A panel featuring students, simultaneous classes taught by Ramaz faculty, and finally, a performance from the Ramaz band and Gabrielle Silverberg ’25. The enthusiasm from the student body and faculty members curated an enticing Open House that successfully displayed the wonderful things Ramaz has to offer.
