Does the school have too much control over the G.O. candidacy?

Many students look forward to running for G.O every year, but is the election corrupt  due to the amount of control the administration has over the candidacy? I believe students are left in the dark since they do not know what goes on behind the scenes of the election. I wish I had known more about how big of a role the administration and teachers play. Like most other students I did not know what the candidates did in order to prepare for the election. They do so much more than we realize when preparing for the election and some candidates feel that all that hard work goes to waste because of the power that the administration holds over them is unfair. A few candidates running for a spot on G.O, who asked to remain anonymous, have made a few statements criticizing the administration’s hand in the election. They have said that the administration sensors too much in the candidates’  speeches when reviewing them. I believe the administration  should just be checking the candidates’ scripts to see if  what they plan to share is appropriate; they should  not be changing the candidate’s speech leaving the candidate with only a few key points that the candidate has written about. I believe that every student should have a fair chance when it comes to running and being elected. The G.O candidates have also said that the administration favors certain candidates, giving those specific students and advantage over the others. This includes letting the favorites go over word limits in their speeches, censoring less in their speeches, and letting them get away with forceful voting, meaning, they are turning a blind eye when certain candidates pressure other students into voting for them. These things are clearly unfair and should not be allowed next election. It is essential that every candidate feels that they do not have a disadvantage and that they are free to express what they truly want to do for the school and for you.
